Belok Sidan – Soothing Greenery, Reviving Culture
3
Badung Regency never runs out of tourist destinations to explore. This time, we’ll highlight a mountain paradise at the edge of Badung Regency — Belok/Sidan Tourism Village. Geographically located at 1,500 meters above sea level, the village enjoys cooler temperatures.
The cool climate allows local residents to cultivate marigold flowers (bunga gumitir), which, when in full bloom, become a stunning tourist attraction. In addition to the marigold fields, Belok/Sidan also offers various attractions such as Sudamala Waterfall, forest trekking, orange plantations, coffee plantations, vegetable farms, the ancient Ao Tree, and Tukad Pangkung river.
The Meprani tradition in Banjar Sekarmukti, Belok/Sidan, is a cultural heritage still preserved today. Held every Soma Ribek and Kuningan Day, the tradition is followed by medesa (adult village men) and krama suci (young men who have graduated high school). Participants bring banten (offerings) to the village temple for a communal ritual, then share and taste the offerings together.
