
Taman Ayun Temple: Historical Remnants of the Mengwi Kingdom

Taman Ayun Temple is located in Mengwi Village about 19 km from Denpasar City, Taman Ayun tourist destination is a rest and recreation park, as well as a place of worship for the Mengwi Royal family which was founded in 1634 by I Gusti Agung Ngurah Made Agung (King of Mengwi at that time). Taman Ayun with a traditional Balinese landscaping arrangement is surrounded by a pond and around it are also planted various rare Balinese plants. On the jaba side there is a multi-purpose wantilan which was often used as a place for cockfighting (tajen) and Balinese art performances. Facilities include a large parking area, food stalls and local tour guides.
