Located in Banjar Kertha of Petang Village about 37 km from Denpasar City and at an altitude of 730.77 m above sea level which can be reached in about 2 hours by leisurely walk from the parking lot.
According to mythology, when Dang Hyang Nirartha made a spiritual journey from Pulaki to East Bali, it is said that he rested at the top of a plateau in Petang Village. When he continued his journey, he left his tedung (umbrella) at the resting place, hence the name Pucak Tedung.
The umbrella that was left behind was seen by the local people at night shining with magical powers, so the King of Mengwi ordered the local people to build a temple in the form of a three-tiered meru as a tribute to the services of Dang Hyang Nirartha. The outer area of Pucak Tedung has a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery and cool air, from where the view of East, West and South Bali can be seen. It is a very attractive place to find inspiration and peace for those who enjoy doing semadi.
