The tradition of Perang Tipat is part of a religious ritual procession that is held from generation to generation every year based on the Balinese calendar (Sasih) which is determined by the fall of Purnama Kapat (around October - November). The tradition of Perang Tipat is carried out as an expression of gratitude to God Almighty for His blessings in the form of prosperity, successful harvest, achievement of agricultural irrigation, avoidance of disasters and others.
This tradition is also often called ‘Aci Rah Pengangon’ by the local community. The ritual that takes place at Pura Kapal begins with a joint prayer ceremony performed by all villagers. In this ceremony, the traditional village leader will sprinkle holy water to ask for the safety of all residents and also the participants who will conduct the tipat bantal war.
